For six years we had the blessing of learning Qigong on the top of a mountain in North California. Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, our master, is an acclaimed author and teacher of Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, and is a leading authority on Qigong. He opened the YMAA Retreat Center in Northern California in 2005.
What is Qigong?
Qi is energy & gong is time spent working and learning. So Qigong is time spent learning about your own energy in relation to the universe, in relation to others, in relation to the world, in relation to our own body....
In relation to the human body...we will look at Medical Qigong. Medical Qigong is breathing techniques combined with stretches and movements to even out the energy in the organs and body. If there is to much energy built up, let's say in the heart, it could result in high blood pressure. With certain breathing techniques and physical movements the excess energy can be moved out through the arms, allowing for the energy in the heart to regulate itself. Medical Qigong includes Eight Pieces of Brocade, Animal Sport, Four Season, and Tai Qi Ball.
